Equations

Formula for practitioners

FC(g)C(g)\frac{\mathit{FC}(g)}{\mathit{C}(g)}

FC(g)\mathit{FC}(g) returns the total fixed cost for group gg.
C(g)\mathit{C}(g) returns the number of cases in group gg.

Formal Definition

FC×(g)C(g)\frac{\mathit{FC}\mathit{^{\times}}(g)}{\mathit{C}(g)}
The ×\mathit{\times} indicates that the PPI can take multiple forms, in this case, ×{sgl,sum}\mathit{\times} \in \{\mathit{sgl}, \mathit{sum}\}. If ×=sgl\mathit{\times} = \mathit{sgl}, then the function considers single events of activity instances for cost calculations, i.e., it uses FCsgl\mathit{FC}\mathit{^{sgl}}; if ×=sum\mathit{\times} = \mathit{sum}, then the function considers the sum of all events of activity instances for cost calculations, i.e., it uses FCsum\mathit{FC}\mathit{^{sum}}.
